Barn Find

I was selling a Kia.  I was asking $3500.  I probably would have taken $3000.  The lady had $2600, and said she really wanted the car.  She was trying to sell her late dad’s Nova, and when she sold it she would get the Kia.

Because of the story above, I started talking to her about the Nova.  Her dad was a “car guy.”  He had 2 Nova’s when he died, and he left one to her and one to her sister.

It was a 74 Nova (I thought that was crazy because that was my first car.  (It wasn’t)).  It was running when he parked it a couple of years ago.  He had been working on it since.

I asked if she would just give me the Nova for the rest of the payment on the car and she agreed.  I did this sight unseen.

So, now I had to go look at it.  This is probably a good time to talk about the roll Catherin played in all of this.  She actually got giddy with the prospect of having a muscle car in the driveway.  Even if it didn’t run.

We go look at the car.  It’s all there, but it is DIRTY.  It is under a metal carport.  It looks straight. The engine looks strong (as far as I can tell).

We decided to make the deal.

I get the car towed to the house. We wash it and clean it out.  The seats have been recovered.  The top lining has been redone (although not well).  We take some pretty pictures of the car.  It looks great wet, we are both excited about the possibilities of the car.

I start looking it up on the internet.  I post on reddit and facebook.  A lot of comments and discussion.  I get more and more excited, but I still do not know what to do with it.

For the time being--It sits.
