It Runs--Now What?

Hearing the car fire up for the second time was just as exciting as the first.  Z was optimistic about the car, and he seemed as excited to work on it as I was to get it running.

He was the kind of guy that I could make a deal with.  We are school teachers, and we are raising a family.  Our deal was simple, Z would tell me what needed to be done. I would order parts when I could, I would pay him when I could, and he would work when he got some money.  The car could sit there when he wasn’t working on it.  We would keep in touch and let each other know where we stood.

So I got him the parts, and I got him some money and began the work.
