Getting it to the Mechanic

I got the car towed to Z’s for a fraction of the price the tow companies wanted.  And the truth is...I really didn’t know what to do next.  Z and I had talked about a gas tank, and that being all that it needed (at the moment), but I had my doubts.  And they were creeping in.  I had doubts about the Nova.  I had doubts about Z. I had doubts about how much this was going to cost in the long run.

When you are uneducated on a subject the doubts can come quick, and you have to put your trust in other people.  I usually know where I stand on most things.  I have thought them through.  But in the unknown--This may be why I find this so fun.

Z went over the car.  He confirmed that it needed a gas tank, and that he could indeed put one on.

So at the beginning of October (We got the car at the end of June) we started the process of getting the Nova on the road.

I found and ordered a new gas tank from a place called “Parts Geek” on the internet.

Later I was told to get a fuel sending unit, a fuel pump and some fuel hose.  I had to learn what a fuel sending unit was, and that is not very easy.  It is easy to order the wrong parts as all the internet companies seem to have different names for the same stuff, and not everyone calls the same part the same thing.

Z and I would go back and forth.  It would take some time to get him to explain things to me in a way that I could understand, but I got the right parts, and the work began.

I am going to look at this like I am paying for a class.  A class on antique American muscle cars.
